Threat – Sickinnahead (CD) (1993) (FLAC + 320 kbps)

Threat’s debut album hasn’t seen much attention outside of his native California, but is one of the better albums from the West Coast in 1993. DJ Pooh provides some very intricate and detailed production work, with differing sounds and even tempo changes in the middle of the tracks. Properly used sampling and scratching are heard throughout, with funky horn and saxophone riffs used to accompany the deep basslines. There are also a few guest producers on this album, including Suede and the legendary King Tee. Threat doesn’t disrespect the beats either, bringing an energetic and often comedic spirit to what at its basic level is still a hardcore gangsta rap album.
